I love nepal.food. Pfft. Who doesn’t? Dude literally goes to Banaras for a paan and Lucknow for some biryani. Also the new vid that had him take a kid shopping and then to eat was heartwarming af.
There are other Instagram/TikTok food bloggers as well who are cool. mr.foodie_nepal is fun; and so is foods.nepal; but my favorite food blog has to be amilo.piro.stories.
Run by Ashmi Upadhyaya, an engineer based in the US; this one tops the list for me not just because of the food she cooks. The stories that she tells while she prepares food in these vids are the reasons, I love this blog even more. Sometimes it’s about her family and her childhood, and other times it’s her telling about Nepal, Nepali food and the culture. These stories are super relatable, even more if you’re living abroad, and sometimes that hits you right in the feels.
Also, there is an answer in her story highlights to the question, “What do you dislike about Nepal?” from an Q&A session she did around last month. And she answers, “The day I left home is the day I lost my privilege to talk shit about home”, and that is one of the truest things ever. That’s pretty much how most of us folks, living abroad, feel.
So yeah, video-quality wise, she is not the best one out there. There are many others who are technically more sound and put out better looking content, travel and explore more; but when it comes to connecting with you — she really is a champ.
Keep creating content and keep sharing these wonderful stories, mayalu!
