Watch: Customers Queue Up For 7 Rupee-Plate Momo at a Restaurant in Pokhara

Note: This is not a sponsored post. I wish it was though. *cries in the corner*

15 years later, not just boomers but even Gen Z will be telling the kids, “Hamro paalo ma ta 7 rupya ma nai painthyo momo.”

It’s not a drill and there’s no catch; a restaurant in Pokhara is selling chicken momo for seven bucks a plate — yep, a regular sized 10-piece momo plate. The two-month offer, that started from Asar 15 (Jun 30), will be valid until Bhadra 15 (Sep 1). There are some conditions though. A person can only have one plate momo and has to dine in, it’s not for takeaway (fair enough). Also, the offer is valid only for two hours each day, from 1 to 3 PM.

The restaurant’s called Domo Domo and it’s at Mobile Tower Building in Mahendrapul, Pokhara.

The average price for a plate of chicken momo is between 120 to 150 bucks (right?); 100 at least if you manage to find a cheaper place. So no wonder, there’s a crowd waiting to get in and get them small pieces of heaven. A Tiktok user posted a short clip of the queue outside the restaurant, waiting for their turns.

The only question I have is, “Why?”; not why the queue. Momo is worth every hardship and struggle. But why the offer? I get it, from the marketing point of view, a lot of people are finding out about this restaurant and that’s great. And I really, really hope these customers visit the restaurant after the offer period is over as well.

Good luck, Domo Domo.
