In the first week on January of 2017, I had written a piece about the judges of the very first season of the Idol franchise in Nepal; as Nepal Idol was about to come around for the first time. Those three judges were Nhyoo Bajracharya, Kali Prasad Devkota and Indira Joshi.
That was SEVEN years ago!!
What?? Dayum, time sure flies, aye?
The trio was part of the first three seasons of the singing reality television show, through 2017 to 2020. But for the fourth season, a new panel of the judges were brought, consisting of Sambhujeet Baskota, Sugam Pokharel and Subani Moktan. And well, guess who’s coming back to the show — all three of them!
Yep, you got that right. Bajracharya, Devkota and Joshi — all of them are gonna be wearing their judge hats for the fourth time this year as the show is coming back for its fifth season. Well, it’s not just them who are making a comeback but so is Reema Bishwokarma who had hosted the first and second seasons. The next two seasons were co-hosted by Reshma Ghimire and Mampi Ghosh, respectively. On the other hand, Asif Shah has remained a regular host ever since the second season when he had replaced Sushil Nepal.
Alright, so the hosts and judges are sorted; now comes the most important part of the show — the contestants. So here you go, let’s see where and when they can audition to be part of it.
The auditions kickstart at Greenfield World School in Birtamode, Jhapa on January 6th, followed by Deurali Secondary School in Bardibas, Mahottari on the 11th. Next up, it’s Krishna Adarsha English School in Hetauda, Makwanpur on 16th while the next station is at Satyawati Academy in Attariya, Kailali on January 22nd. It’s gonna be Mid-West University in Birendranagar, Surkhet on January 27th and Alpha English School in Ghorahi, Dangh on February 1st. The second last auditions will take place in Pokhara on the 6th where the venue will be Motherland Secondary School. And finally, after completing auditions in all of those seven cities; it’s gonna be Kathmandu where the show will find its remaining participants. The audition date and venue is yet to be announced for the capital, though.
Well, if you’ve got what it takes to be the next Nepal Idol, you now know where and when to be. And if singing isn’t really much of your thing, I am pretty sure you know someone who you think should definitely give it a shot, so it’s time you let them know that now it’s their time to shine.
Good luck, y’all!
Yep, even Phoebe is excited for you!
