‘Tis that time of the year again when everyone you know is gonna be in Pokhara ‘cos the lake city becomes even more happening around this time.
With the year coming to an end, making a comeback is one of Pokhara’s favorite festivals. Yep, you got that right, Pokhara Street Festival is back for its 25th edition and as always, there are a number of acts scheduled to play the festival, including The Elements, who have just returned from their New Zealand and Australia tour.
Deepak Bajracharya & Rhythm Band will be playing on December 29th. On the same evening, rapper from Pokhara, Rajan KC, will also be on the stage performing some of his songs. Next day, it’s gonna be another rapper from the city, Tuki, who will then be passing the baton to the legendary band, Mukti & Revival. The 31st is gonna be the night of The Elements and Laure and the Bad Kompany. So yeah, a good line up right there.
On the folk music end, Prajapati Parajuli is the one to be taking on the stage on the 28th, followed by Preeti Ale on 29th. Pashupati Sharma will be performing on the 30th, with two acts including Badri Pangeni and Purushttam Neupane on 31st of December. Pretty solid lineup there too.
Well, that’s not all; less than two weeks after the end of the Street Festival, there’s gon’ be another one starting. Pokhara Mahotsav will be coming back for the 12th time this year and it has got quite a lineup. Rapper Maila on January 13, Rockheads on 14th and Sarad Shrestha’s three-piece band Shree 3 are all set to play. The next days are gonna be fire too with performances from Melina Rai on the 17th, Sabin Rai & The Pharaoh on 18th and Mantra on 19th. One of the most streamed Nepali rappers, VTEN is the one in charge of the stage on January 20, with Sugam Pokharel bringing the heat on 21st; followed by GBOB the next day. Impressive, aye?
They’ve also got some heavy lineup for the folk music lovers with Shanti Shri Pariyar, Jyoti Magar, Rachana Rimal, Prakash Dutraj, Prajapati Parajuli, Purushottam Neupane and Samjhana Lamichhane Magar. Samikshya Adhikari, Badri Pangeni, Eleena Chauhan, Simran Pariyar, Raju Pariyar, Pashupati Sharma and Preeti Ale too are all set to be performing.
There you are, seems like folks in Pokhara are sorted for a month.
