It was almost like a normal Tuesday afternoon on the January 24th last year, until Prem Prasad Acharya self-immolated himself in front of the Federal Parliament building in Kathmandu.

An entrepreneur from Ilam, the 36-year-old’s act of self-immolation was also a symbolic protest, which clearly showed his frustration towards how the state was failing. Acharya had posted a long post on his Facebook page before he took the step, which explained his various experiences of failing multiple times due to the circumstances that were beyond his control.

Almost a year later, Uniq Poet has dropped a new song which revolves around the same incident. Titled ‘Suryodaya’, the music video for the song has a protagonist who sells tea in the streets; and how his life is changed forever after he witnesses Acharya set himself on fire.

Directed by Anna Deluche, the video stars Jlson Adhikari and Surabhi Sapkota. Written and performed by Uniq Poet along with Prakriti Bhattarai Basnet; the music is produced by K-Pass.
