Performing in front of a live audience is a dream for any singer and/or musician. In fact, isn’t it a dream for simply anyone to earn a living doing what you love?

Ever since his school days, Sujan Chapagain had the same dream. He had started out young, performing in school programs; but it’s a completely different world out there and so he wanted to prepare himself well before going out there to perform for the people who paid hundreds of bucks to see him do his thing. He wanted to make sure he is able to give them their money’s worth and an experience they will cherish forever, or at least for a long time. And hence he did not rush into it; he took his time.

Sujan’s first single ‘Teenpatey’, a duet with Bidhya Tiwari, was a huge hit. Released in August 2020, the song has garnered a whopping 24 million views on YouTube as of now. After his second hit titled ‘Gala Pukka’ — released in October 2020 — he had started getting offers for shows, concerts and Mahotsabs. But he was not ready for it yet because he wanted some more originals so he could have a setlist for the audience. What he also wanted was a band to perform with. So he kept on working — turning down over a hundred live concert offers in the meantime — and only after almost two years of his big debut, he played his first concert on July 23rd last year in 2022 at Patan Museum. And yes, he did it with his band.

Sujan has recently finished his first international tour, an Australia tour with his band of eleven. I am sure you must have seen the clips of the concerts online. All those venues were packed with the people who love him and his music; and it is so good to see him doing what he loves.

Apart from ‘Teenpatey’ and ‘Gala Pukka’, Sujan currently has four other original singles — ‘Lajayera’, ‘Baaf’, ‘Ghumi Ghumi’ and his latest hit ‘Fulthunge Rani‘ — and he has also done playback singing for ‘Babari’ film OST titled ‘Chulbul Chulbul’. These would definitely make a good setlist for any concert.
