Anushka Shrestha has done it.
Nepal’s bet has just been announced the winner of the prestigious Beauty with a Purpose award at the Miss World 2019 competition.
As the Miss World website states, “Beauty With A Purpose is the highest recognition a contestant can achieve in Miss World.”
“Every year contestants are asked to work for a project that helps the people in their home countries. This gives thousands of young women every year, the opportunity to use their abilities to make a real and lasting contribution to the lives of the sick and disadvantaged children.”
In Anushka’s own words, she has chosen this “multifaceted community upliftment programme that aims to create a sustainable and duplicable development model. This project aims to work towards creating a visible and sustainable improvement in the quality of education of girl child, by mainly focusing on economic upliftment of mothers through livelihood generation.”
This is Nepal’s third time winning the BWAP award, after Ishani Shresha and Shrinkhala Khatiwada bagged the award in 2013 and 2018, respectively.
Having won the head to head challenge along with fast track event Miss Multimedia, Anushka already had reached the top 40 days before the final event. And during tonight’s event, she was announced one of the top 12 semi finalists. At the end of the event, Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica was crowned the Miss World 2019.
