It wouldn’t be correct to say that there’s no stand-up comedy scene in Nepal. There is, but it has a really, really, really long way to go.

With the rise of some YouTube channels like Comedy Circle and Nep-gasm, among others, that have been putting out stand-up sets by some aspiring stand-up comics; it’s pretty clear that there’s hope. We just need a good platform that inspires the funny people to come out of their houses, get on the stage and tell us some hilarious jokes. Can ‘Comedy Champion’ be that platform? Well, it might.

The new stand-up comedy television series is looking for contestants that can make people laugh. No, they don’t want you to go and sing in front of people. They are looking for fellas who have a stand comedian in them.

The digital auditions are now open and in order to get yourself in, you need to send them a clip of yourself performing. The last date for submission is August 14th. Here’s the WEBSITE.

The show that will air on Kantipur television will be hosted by Reema Bishwokarma. Actors Santosh Panta and Reecha Sharma along with ‘Jatra’ director Pradeep Bhattarai and comedian Manoj Gajurel will be judging the contestants. The winner walks away with 2.5 mil and a car.
