New Music: Nasty, Uniq, Shree 3, Chakachak, Kta Haru, Sagun, Alexx & More

Quite a lot of good tracks got released recently and you might or might not have checked them all out. To make sure they don’t go unnoticed, here we are with (almost) all the good music that we came across.

The Eminem-MGK beef has the world talking. Nepali hiphop had one such feud that gave fans something to be excited about — the dope diss tracks exchanged between Nasty and Uniq. But looks like it’s over now as the two rap artists have collaborated on a track; and boy, what a track it has turned out to be. Titled ‘Underground Kings’, the beat is produced by Lazybones and Phonics. Released under the label of Olive Records, this one is a collaboration that no one thought is going to happen.

Days later, Nasty dropped another banger – this time with a music video. The beat for the song called ‘John Lennon’ is produced by Phonics. James Lama is the one who shot, directed and edited the video.

‘Nepsydaz’ rapper MistahK, who made his much awaited comeback in July this year, has come up with a new song. He has collaborated with Aidray and Bigshake on the track called ‘Political Drama’. The song has an animated video done by Escape Animation. The music is produced and recorded by The Range Records.

Quite a number of rap records came out recently, one of them being Girish Khatiwada and Thujey’s ‘Kathmandu Ma Trapped’. While the single was released last month, a music video for it was released on Friday this week. Recorded, mixed, mastered and engineered by Brijesh Shrestha; the beat for the song is produced by Girish aka Gorkhali G himself. Shot by Nabin Gurung, the music video is directed by King Sumdae.

Sarad Shrestha-led three-man band Shree 3 released a music video for their new single ‘River’ last week. The video, a work of Skathi Records, starts with a scene that has Chandra Bhakta Shrestha – a former rebel fighter – traveling in a bus. Like thousands of other maoist insurgents, Shrestha was also promised a place in the national army but the dream never actually became a reality. The band dedicates the song to those soldiers.

The UK is so much full of Nepali talents, amazing Nepali talents — Yugal Gurung is one of them. So glad the singer-songwriter is finally coming up with his debut EP. He recently released ‘Akash Bhari’, a track off of the upcoming EP and it’s soooooo good. The music video is done by Shirish Gurung of Passe Pictures.

Talking about new EPs and albums; you gotta check out ‘Galat Nirnaya’, an album by Kta Haru. The band; that consists of Maneesh Naubagh on drums and vocals, Milane Neupane on lead vocals and guitar, Nischal Shrestha on bass, Prasnna Saha on lead guitar and vocals, and Prasong Rupacha on ukulele, synth and vocals; had launched the album at Moksh, Jhamsikhel earlier this week. They have put out some of the tracks on YouTube.

Neetesh Jung Kunwar, who is currently touring Australia, released a live acoustic song on Thursday. Titled ‘Mitra’, it’s an inspirational song that talks about not giving up and living the life to the fullest.

Chakachak, a newly-formed band from Kathmandu, released their debut music video last week. The band that has Multi on vocals, Sabeen on bass, Bikrant on drums, Biraj on guitars and Disc Jockey Evil dropped ‘Sabda’, a track recorded, mixed and mastered at Sound Fusion Studio. The music video starring Shikshya Sangroula is directed and edited by Ashutosh Dhoj Karki.

Love metal? Here’s a treat for you. Nikesh Bhujel (vocals), Nabin Khadka (guitar), Sajan Gurung (guitar), Sushan Gurung (drum) and Nimesh Nakarmi make a kickass band called Screaming Marionette. Their album ‘Corrupted Society’ is now out. Stream it here.

Alexx is one of the very few Nepali producers making it big internationally and you probably have no idea who he is. Too bad. He recently produced music for a new track by Latin artists Arcangel (Puerto Rico) and Tali Goya (Dominican Republic). The song called ‘El moñoñon’ has been doing wonders in all the major Latin charts.

So far so good but there’s something missing in this playlist — a song by a female artist. Here you go! Jennie Tamang, more popularly known by her stage name Hennie Baker, has put out her new single under the label of Money Affiliated Records. It’s called ‘Sadhai Bhari’.

Need some chill music? We have something for you, too. Sagun has dropped his new EP called ‘Yellow Hill’. You’ve got to check his music out.

Happy listening, y’all!
