The Return of Aastha: Naren & Sudip Drop Long-Awaited New Song

Some songs just stay with you.
Some voices become part of who you were when the world felt new, and love was complicated in the most beautiful ways.
If you grew up in the early 2000s in Nepal, chances are, Aastha was the soundtrack to a big chunk of your life.

And now — after what felt like forever — they’re finally back.
Yes, Naren Limbu and Sudip Gurung, the beloved duo who ruled the Nepali pop scene with their signature pop-rock style, have dropped a brand-new song titled “Galti” — and it’s everything we missed.

When we talk about iconic Nepali music duos, Aastha sits right at the top. Their songs like “Gaaro Gaaro Chha,” “Harpal,” “Ek Mauka,” “Birsana,” and “Aatma” weren’t just played on loop — they were felt deeply.

Over the years, both Naren and Sudip ventured into solo careers and gave us some wonderful tracks individually. While they hadn’t released new music as Aastha for a long time, they did reunite on stage for several live performances — keeping the spirit of the duo alive and reminding fans of the magic they still had together.

Though Sudip has been based abroad for quite some time, the two have managed to continue performing together now and then, keeping their bond strong and their music alive in the hearts of fans.

That’s why their acoustic release, “Timro Mutu Ma” earlier this year in January, felt like more than just a new song — it felt like a reconnection. A hint that maybe, just maybe, the duo we grew up with wasn’t done yet.

And now, with “Galti,” they’ve made that reconnection official — with a full studio version and a music video.

What makes this comeback even more special is that it’s not just limited to a song. In December last year, Naren and Sudip performed together as Aastha at multiple venues in Nepal. And now, they’re set to reunite again this month for a series of live performances in Australia, followed by a US tour.

It’s just so heartening to see them not only sharing the stage but also making new music together, reminding us of the magic they’ve always had when they’re together.

Here’s hoping this is only the beginning of many more songs, many more shows, and many more memories.
