November, the most exciting month for the pageant fans, is here!
The pageant ‘season’ is even more exciting for Nepal this year as with the Miss Universe debut, Nepali will be part of all the ‘Big Four’ pageants this year. Interestingly, all of the ‘Big Four’ pageants – the four most prestigious international beauty pageants including Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth and Miss International – have their finals scheduled for this very month.
Rojina Shrestha, Nepal’s Miss Earth representative, is currently in the Philippines.
The 23-year-old Bachelors in Computer Information student stands 5’8″. The coronation night of the 17th edition of the pageant will be held at the Mall of Asisa Arena in Pasay this Saturday, November 4th. The reigning Miss Earth Katherine Espin of Ecuador will pass on the crown to her successor at the end of the event. 87 delegates are competing for the title this year.
Niti Shah, Nepal’s bet in Miss International this year, reached the host country Japan last week.
The 21-year-old has been doing exceptionally well and has been able to keep herself in the spotlight so far. “Nepal’s Niti Shah did not disappoint us. She has the face of royalty!”, that’s what the leading pageant portal Missosology had to say about her when they met her at the Tokyo Dome City Hall upon her arrival. She stands 5’5″.
The final gala of the 57th Miss International will be taking place in Tokyo on Tuesday, November 14. Kylie Verzosa of the Philippines will crown her successor. 70 contestants are vying for the title this year.
Nikita Chandak is representing Nepal in the Miss World 2017 pageant in China.
The 20-year-old, who stands 5’6″, has been participating in various activities including the charity gala and the auditions for Dances of the World. With the new Head to Head Challenge format this year, the 118 contestants are divided into 20 groups, each consisting of 5 or 6 contestants. Nepal is in Group 3 along with Cameroon, Madagascar, Guinea, Chile and Belgium. They will be participating in a number of challenges, starting from today (November 1).
The finale of the 67th edition of the pageant t is scheduled for 18th November at the Sanya City Arena in Sanya. Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico will crown her successor.
And the much awaited Miss Universe debut!
This is going to be a special year for Nepal in the pageant scene as for the first time in the history of the Miss Universe pageant, Nepal will be a part of the most prestigious pageant for the very first time. And Nagma Shrestha — the tallest and the most experienced Nepali delegate this year — will be representing Nepal.
The 25-year-old has so far represented Nepal in Miss Earth 2012 in the Philippines , Miss University 2016 in China and Miss Eco Universe 2016 in Egypt. She was crowned the first ever Miss Universe Nepal in September this year. She stands 5’11”.
Shrestha will be leaving for the United States next week. Over 90 contestants will be competing for the coveted title this year. The reigning Miss Universe, Iris Mittenaere of France, will crown her successor in the finale on November 26 in Las Vegas.
Apart from these ‘Big Four’ pageants, Nepal will also be participating in Miss Supranational, which is considered to be the fifth biggest pageant (hence the part of ‘Big Five’). The Nepali representative for the pageant this year, that’s scheduled in December, is yet to be announced.
Also, Sahara Basnet is to represent Nepal at Miss Asia Pacific International later this year.
