POV: You Shipped Sisan and Gurash Nani As a Joke, and Durgesh Thapa Said ‘Say Less’

Cringe, but in the best possible way.

That’s probably the most honest review I can give to “Jaane Bhaye Jaam Maya” — a song that took a running TikTok joke about Sisan Baniya and Gurash Nani being a thing and turned it into a full-blown music video starring the internet’s most unexpected almost-couple.

If you have missed the memo, here’s the gist: TikTok was buzzing with jokes and edits about Sisan and Gurash being a thing. Just some harmless shipping, really — the kind of “what if” content that lives rent-free in the algorithm. But instead of ignoring it, they went ahead and made something out of it. Like, properly.

Enter Durgesh Thapa — the king of meme music, known for turning the absurd into art (or at least, into something that racks up views). Add to that Sisan Baniya — not behind the camera this time but very much in front of it, and also on the mic. This marks his second release as a vocalist after ‘Babaal’ with OMG Spark and Nawaj Ansari — which was a banger. This one? Not quite a banger, but definitely entertaining in all the right (and wrong) ways. What we get is a self-aware, meme-fueled, over-the-top, musically mid-but-visually-max video that knows exactly what it’s doing.

Is it a masterpiece? Nope.
Is it deep? Not at all.
Is it fun to watch? Absolutely!

There’s something oddly delightful about how little it tries to be serious. The song is campy. The video is extra, but that’s kind of the point. The chemistry is… well, awkward but in a funny, can’t-look-away kind of way. They took a TikTok joke, added a whole lot of choreography, tossed in a cheeky kiss (literally), and turned it into a full-blown music video — and somehow, it works. Not in a musical genius way, but in a “let’s have fun with it” kind of way.

Honestly, in a world where everyone’s chasing perfection, this kind of low-stakes, self-aware cringe feels kind of refreshing.

Now, on a slightly more serious note — credit where it’s due, Sisan really did something cool here. Through this video (and to be fair, through his platform in general), he’s helped people look at Gurash Nani a little differently. For the longest time, she was mostly seen as a meme — someone to laugh at, not really someone to take seriously.

But then her recent interviews started showing up on my FYP, and I’ll be real — she surprised me. She’s thoughtful, grounded, and way more self-aware than people give her credit for.

And yeah, I’ll admit it. I never paid her any positive attention before. But now I do. And I think a lot of people are doing the same. It’s just nice to see someone being seen — not just for the laughs, but for who they actually are.

So here’s to Durgesh Thapa, Sisan Baniya, and Gurash Nani — for giving us something that’s a little cringe, a little chaotic, but a whole lot of fun. And hey, maybe that’s exactly what we needed.
