Turns Out, Sher Bahadur Deuba Was in Bollywood Flick ‘Main Hoon Na’

Aaaaand “What?? For Real???” news of the day is, Sher Bahadur Deuba was in ‘Main Hoon Na’. No kidding, I just cross-checked it myself; and it’s not a drill.

19 minutes into the film; and there you have him, the one and only….. the former Prime Minister of Nepal…. Mr. Deuba…. on….. the….. wall!!

Yep, right there on the wall, in a photo-shopped picture with Kabir Bedi.

The blink and miss frame is from the scene that takes place at General Bakshi’s residence where Bedi’s character is trying to convince Major Ram (Shah Rukh Khan) to go to Darjeeling to protect his daughter Sanjana (Amrita Rao) from the evil Raghavan (Suniel Shetty).

The five-time Prime Minister was spotted by an eagle-eyed TikToker, Bristi Acharya recently; and to make sure it was legit, I actually straight up went to Netflix and checked it myself; and there he was…. in a goddamn Shah Rukh Khan film.

Tbh, still a better role than Zayed Khan’s annoying character though.

The action comedy film, directed by Farah Khan, was scheduled to begin filming in 2001 when Deuba was serving his second term as the PM; but it was delayed due to Shah Rukh’s injury. The film later went on floor in 2003, around the time Surya Bahadur Thapa succeeded Deuba as the new PM. Following year, the film got released on April 30, 2004 and turned out to be the second biggest film that year — right after another Shah Rukh Khan film, Veer Zaara. And just around a month later, Deuba started his third term as the PM in June.

Still can’t say for sure how he landed on that wall. Anyway, thanks to Sabu Cyril, the art director; our veteran politician got to make his big Bollywood debut.

The film is available on Netflix. Go stream, or don’t, whatever!
