The Japanese kawaii metal band has won the Heavy Metal World Cup 2018. They had also won the first tournament in 2014. The band defeated Nepal’s Underside in the final. According to the organizers – Louder – “It was a close fought battled with the Japanese trio winning with just 59.95% of the vote.”

The line-up of Babymetal consists of Suzuka Nakkamota as ‘Su-metal’, Yui Mizuno as ‘Yuimetal’, and Moa Kikuchi as ‘Moametal’. Their vocals are backed by Kami Band’s heavy metal instrumentation.

Underside, on the other hand, consists of Avishek KC on vocals, Bikash Bhujel and Bikrant Shrestha on guitars, and Nishant Hagjer on drums.

The World Cup, which started last month with bands representing 16 nations, saw Babymetal win against Alestorm (Scotland), Within Temptation (Netherlands) and Immortal (Norway); with Underside knocking out Wrust (Botswana), Sepultura (Brazil) and Rammstein (Germany) to reach the final.

Congratulations, Babymetal. Come, perform in Nepal soon.
