Bollywood Spy Thriller Starring John Abraham To Be Shot In Nepal

Indian films have regularly used Nepal as a backdrop since the early 1970s. The first major Indian film to be shot in Nepal was Dev Anand’s 1971 film ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, starring himself along with Mumtaz and Zeenat Aman. A lot of other Indian movies including ‘Khuda Gawah’, ‘Gharwali Baharwali’, ‘Love in Nepal’, and ‘Baby’, among others have since then been filmed at various locations across the country.

A number of Indian filmmakers are to shoot their films in Nepal in 2018 as well. While Yash Raj Films’ ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’ starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra; and Bala’s Tamil remake of ‘Arjun Reddy’ titled ‘Varma’ have already been shot here this year; the shooting of a couple of other films, too, have already been planned to take place in the country, including Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film with Irfan Khan and Deepika Padukone; and Sai Pallavi’s untitled Telugu film starring Sharwanand and Hanu Raghavapudi.

Now the latest addition to the list is a Bollywood spy thriller. According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, RAW – Romeo, Akbar, Walter – starring John Abraham and Jackie Shroff will be shot in a two-month schedule across Gujarat, Kashmir, Delhi and Nepal. The film set in early 1970s is based on true events. Robbie Grewal; who has so far directed films like ‘Samay’, ‘MP3’, and ‘Aloo Chaat’; will be directing the film that will commence shooting in June.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of John Abraham’s Bollywood career. Having made his debut with ‘Jism’ in 2003, the 45-year-old actor has since then starred in a number of hits including ‘Dhoom’, ‘Garam Masala’, ‘Dostana’, ‘New York’, ‘Force’, ‘Desi Boys’, Welcome Back’, and ‘Force 2’, among others. His latest film ‘Parmanu’ is set to release on May 25th.
