Honestly, ’12 Gaun’ wasn’t on top of my watch list but that was before the trailer dropped.
I didn’t dig the teaser, and the two songs that have been released are kinda mid too, so my expectations weren’t very high for this Biraj Bhatta film; but the trailer actually impressed me and I really think it might turn out to be a good action flick.
The film’s introducing junior Bhatta, Samir, who seems to have prepared well before entering the scene. Dude has worked well on his body, looks good doing all the action, and can dance too — he does look like a complete package — but wait, we are yet to see him act, so don’t wanna talk too much just yet. I just hope he doesn’t disappoint.
The trailer’s not all about Samir, though. Biraj Bhatta, who has also directed the film, looks solid as well. In fact, he’s got more screen presence in the trailer than Samir. The film also stars Sonu Chandrapal, Deeya Maskey, Murali Dhar, Sanisha Bhattarai, Naren Khadka, Nancy Kahdka and Suleman Shankar, among others. The film written by Santosh Sarkar is produced by Saraswati Bhatta under the banner of Biraj Bhatta Production.
The film is all set to release on October 10th — same day another biggie, Chhakka Panja 5, hits the theaters. Now, here’s the thing; you might see people talking shit about the franchise all over social media, but every single of those films have made big bucks at the box office. So no wonder, CP5 is gonna give ’12 Gaun’ some tough competition. That’s not it, there’s another film that drops the same day — ‘Jwai Saab’, with Jitu Nepal and Niti Shah in the leading roles. So yeah, it’s gonna be tough out there.
A week before the battle of these three films, Nischal Basnet and Swastima Khadka starrer ‘Behuli From Meghauli’ will start its theater run on October 3rd. In its second week, the film written and directed by Sajan Kafle and Aakash Baral will be going head to head with those newly released films.
On the other hand, two films released last week on September 27th — ‘Sano Sansar’ and ‘Aaankha’ — couldn’t enjoy a smooth run at the theaters due to the recent floods and landslides that hit many parts of the country, including the biggest market, Kathmandu Valley. As a result, both the films had to stop their run and postpone the release for a later date. ‘Khusma’, starring Dhiraj Magar and Upasana Singh Thakuri, is the only Nepali film in theaters right now. Released on September 19th, the film has reportedly done pretty well at the box office.
I am actually looking forward to see some of these films in coming weeks. I hope they won’t disappoint.
