Shriya Rajak Crowned Miss Nepal Peace


Shriya Rajak is now the reigning Miss Nepal Peace. She bagged the title in the grand finale of the pageant that was held on March 24 at Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu. The 23-year-old who hails from Lainchaur Kathmandu, also won the Miss Photogenic sub-title. She is awarded with the cash prize of Rs. 50,000. Sanam Thapa – the winner of the previous edition of the pageant – crowned her successor in the event.

Sumita Bogati and Jeena Shrestha won the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. A number of subtitles were also awarded to the contestants including Beauty With Brain that went to Jeena Shrestha, Most Talented was won by Reena Thapa Magar, and Sushmita Bogati was able to win the Best Personality sub-title. Similarly, Deepa Devkota won Public Choice, Arju Shrestha won Most Charming and Aashma Pyakurel won Most Disciplined. The other subtitles – Best Nursing Themed Dress, Socially Responsible and Most Popular went to Anu Kumal, Sarita Rai and Sajan KC, respectively.

The pageant which is dedicated to the nursing fraternity was previously organized as Miss Nurse; but this year, in its fifth edition – it was renamed to Miss Nepal Peace. The event presented by Unicampus Global in association with Nepal Breast Cancer Federation was organized and managed by Next Models Nepal. Miss Nepal 2016 Asmi Shrestha, photographer Raj Bhai Suwal, Dr. Lochan Karki and Dr. Suzita Hirachan were part of the jury panel. The event, that had supermodel Sabita Karki as the showstopper, was also attended by English actor Malcolm McDowell who is currently traveling across Nepal for a tourism campaign.
