Reecha Sharma has received an honorable mention at the Queens World Film Festival. The actress was among the eight nominees in the Best Female Actor – Narrative Short category. While Sadie Fong Dame was announced the winner in the category for her role in Speak, Sharma was honored with an honorable mention for her work in Silver Bangles.
The eighth edition of the film festival opened on March 15th in New York, and ran through the 25th with 189 narrative, documentary, animated and experimental films from 36 countries. The films were screened at the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios’ Zukor Screen Room. Silver Bangles was the only Nepali film to be screened in the festival.
“I feel honored”, said Reecha Sharma. “It truly is an achievement for me.” Directed by Roshan Thakuri, the 15-minute film is set in Gorkha during Maoist insurgency.
The film had its world premiere in Kathmandu at the Ekadeshma International Short Film Festival last year and had won a special mention. The film will be traveling to various other film festivals before it’s released online.
