Four decades after the song was recorded, Kahama Katyo now has a music video.
The music video for Ganga Bardan’s evergreen song ‘Kahama Katyo’ had its YouTube release on February 14th – his birthday. Produced by Girish Khatiwada, the 5-minute video sees the legendary singer singing and grooving. It also has a cameo by Khatiwada himself.
Recorded in 1978 at Radio Nepal, the song was played for next five years through the station. In December 2016, a controversy sparked as Bipul Chettri was accused of lifting the song — which he actually hadn’t ever released as an official single or never even recorded but covered it in his concerts. The controversy was later resolved in April 2017 in the most classy way as the two artists played the song together in a gig in Kathmandu.
Girish Khatiwada has announced that all the money this video makes on YouTube will go to Ganga Bardan.
