With the conclusion of the major pageants like Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, Miss Earth and Miss Grand International; the pageant season of 2017 is almost over; with only a couple of more pageants left. While one of the ‘Big 5’ pageants, Miss Supranational, is yet to have its finale on December 1st; there’s no participation of Nepal in the pageant this year. However, Nepal does have a pageant to look forward to — Miss Asia Pacific International 2017.
After a decade-long hiatus, Miss Asia Pacific International made a comeback last year with the 22-year old Tessa Helena Le Conge of Netherlands winning the title. Sahara Basnet is Nepal’s representative in the pageant this year.
The latest edition of the pageant kicked off with a press presentation of the candidates on November 13th at Edsa Shangri-La in Manila; followed by a number of preliminary competitions including talent night, national costume and swimsuit rounds.
Sahara Basnet is competing with 41 other participants for the coveted title. She had bagged the title of Miss Asia Pacific International Nepal in the Miss Nepal pageant in June earlier this year; along with the Miss Intellectual award. The 22-year-old from Lalitpur is a BBA student at Kathmandu University School of Management. She stands 5’5″.
The final show of the Miss Asia Pacific International pageant will be held on November 29 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila, Philippines.
The event will start at 7 PM local time (4:45 PM in Nepal). It won’t be aired live on television but would probably be streamed live on the official Facebook handle of Miss Asia Pacific International.
