It’s 2003, a new two-piece band called Aastha release a self-titled album. The very first music video from the album for a song titled ‘Harpal’ hits the television screens and immediately becomes everyone’s favorite. And the two young band members from Dharan – Naren Limbu and Sudip Gurung – become the most promising new artists who are loved by everyone.
Cut to now; after almost fifteen years, their first album together is still the last album that saw the two working as a band. Post the album release, Gurung went to the UK where he has been living since then. Both of them did come up with albums later as well, but as solo artists. While Limbu still is very active and has been constantly releasing new songs – along with directing music videos; Gurung has not released any new songs. However, both of them did tour Australia last year for a reunion concert.
Though we’ve been wishing to see them come up with new music together since forever, we’ve so far only been disappointed… UNTIL LAST NIGHT. Yes! Until last night, we hardly had any hopes that they would come together again as Aastha, but there’s a new ray of hope now.
On Monday, Naren Limbu teased us with the idea that we might be seeing Aastha coming together sometime very soon.
“Sudip Gurung and Naren Limbu (AASTHA) Together?”, he wrote on his Facebook handle. And that has to be a hint that the two-peace band will be seen doing a song, or may be an album (fingers crossed) together.
And for us, the Aastha fans, this will be the best thing to happen in years!! Can’t wait!!
