Cinephiles have got a number of options to choose from this weekend as four new films release in Nepal this Friday. DC Comic’s much anticipated superhero flick, Wonder Woman, is currently Warner Bros’ best reviewed superhero movie since the 2008 blockbuster The Dark Knight. The film that stars Gal Gadot in the title role has been receiving rave reviews globally and has a score of 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Baywatch is the another Hollywood flick that will be releasing in Nepal this week. However, the Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron and Priyanka Chopra starrer hasn’t been much appreciated worldwide and according to Hollywood Reporter, “the film has drowned at the box office”. Will the film adaptation of the classic TV action drama of the same name prove to be successful in Nepal regardless of the lousy reviews it has been receiving. Well, we’ll have to wait to see.
Two Nepali films too release this week — Jaalo and Rato Ghar. Jaalo is a one-shot Nepali film that is looking to set a world record for the longest one-shot feature ever made. Jointly produced by Mohit Munal and Araaj Keshav, the film directed by Araaj stars Anoop Bikram Shahi, Menuka Pradhan, Raymon Das Shrestha, Nirajan Pradhan, Muna Gauchan and Neer Shah in the lead roles. It would be interesting to see if the film succeeds in setting some records at the box office as well.
Rato Ghar which has already been screened in the USA, Canada and Australia too is hitting the screens this week. The film written and directed by Suraj Subba Nalbo has Wilson Bikram Rai, Menuka Pradhan, Samyam Puri, Gaurav Pahari, Mala Limbu and Anurag Kunwar in the lead roles.
Manisha Koirala’s comeback film ‘Dear Maya’ is releasing in India this week but looks like the film directed by Sunaina Bhatnagar isn’t going to be released in Nepal.
