On Wednesday, Kumari Puja was organized by World Youth Hindu Federation at Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square in Kathmandu where more than hundred girls under the age of nine, in the attire of the living goddess ‘Kumari’, from across the country had gathered. Kumari Puja is a tradition of worshiping young prepubescent girls as manifestations of the divine female energy. It is believed that such rituals will save small girls from diseases and bad luck in the years to come.
