Cineworld, the second-largest cinema operator with over 800 screens all around the UK, will now be screening Nepali films as well. In the remarkable deal made between Cineworld Cinemas and International Nepalese Film Academy (INFA); the cinema chain agreed to screen Nepali films in 12 of its venues across the UK.
The first Nepali film scheduled for its screening is ‘Gajalu’ starring Anmol KC, Shristi Shrestha, Gaurav Pahari, Salon Basent, Menuka Pradhan and Ritik Shahi. The film directed by Hem Raj BC was released in Nepal on June 10th this year and proved to be a blockbuster. The first screening of the film will take place at Cineworld in Aldershot on August 26th, followed by the shows at other venues on 26th, 27th and 28th.
Talking with NeoStuffs from London; Prasant Thapa of INFA informed, “We have planned to show a minimum of eight Nepali films around the UK in collaboration with Cineworld every year. We believe that it’s definitely a good step towards the development of Nepali cinema.”
