There’s no doubt that Dayahang Rai is one of the finest Nepali actors. The versatile movie star who is also a veteran theater actor and playwright has won the prestigious national award twice. He is one of those few actors who doesn’t only have a huge fan following but whose work is also appreciated by the critics. But that doesn’t mean that Kollywood has always showered him with love. In fact, it has always been so mean to him, I mean, his characters. So today we bring you some of the instances when Kollywood was too unfair to him. Enjoy!

#1. Loot: Gets betrayed by Saugat Malla
In this 2012 blockbuster, the actor’s character teams up with some men to rob a bank. The gang is lead by Saugat Malla who betrays them all in the end and sweeps away all the money.
#2. Highway: Gets cheated on
In this 2012 flick, he plays a husband who is worried that he is infertile. It’s later when his wife gets into an accident, he finds out that she is pregnant with Vinay Shrestha’s child.
#3. Chhadke – Gets killed by a gangster
He plays a gangster in this much hyped 2013 film, who is killed by his own gang member.
#4.Karkash: Gets jailed
Dayahang plays a drummer in this 2013 musical comedy who is a member of a band who are in search of a vocalist. It’s after they meet Suraj Singh Thakuri when their lives take a terrible turn and they end up in jail.
#5. Kabaddi: Fails to fulfill his biggest dream of marrying his ‘soltini’
Dayahang plays the lead role of ‘Kaji’ in this 2013 blockbuster, who is deeply in love with his ‘soltini’ named Maiya, played by Rishma Gurung. Kaji’s is one sided love and as the film progresses, the audience hopes that by the end he will be able to get Maiya’s love, which doesn’t actually happen.
#6. Jholay: Gets double-crossed in city
He plays an ordinary and very innocent villager in this 2014 film, who goes to Kathmandu to leave for Saudi Arabia to work. All his dreams get shattered after he meets a con-man who runs a porn racket. But by the end he is able to get a huge amount of money but he chooses to leave it for Priyanka Karki and goes back home, empty-handed.
#7. Talakjung Vs. Tulke: Gets killed by the police
Talakjung Vs. Tulke is Nepal’s official entry in the 88th Academy Awards (Oscars 2016) in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Dayahang plays a goon who meets the protagonist Tulke, played by Khagendra Lamichhane, and trains him how to steal from people. He along with his gang members are later killed by the cops.
#8. Kabaddi Kabaddi: Still doesn’t get Maiya’s love
Dayahang’s latest release is Kabaddi Kabaddi, a sequel to the 2013 flick. As the film is currently running in cinemas, we won’t ruin the story for you but even if you haven’t watched it yet, you must have come to know from the jokes and memes that Kaji still doesn’t get his love.
Phew! Poor Dayahang Rai. Don’t you think Kollywood has been too unfair to him? Dear Kollywood, we seriously need to talk. You just can’t keep doing this to our favorite actor. Sigh!
