Mira Rai is not only the most successful Nepalese trail runner but definitely one of the most successful Nepalese athletes ever who has achieved international recognition in such a young age of 25. A village girl from Bhojpur who dropped out of school at 14 and joined Maoist rebels for two years, has not only taken part in around two dozens of competitions around the world so far but also placed first position at various prestigious races in Hong Kong, Italy and France.
A documentary film titled ‘Mira Rai’, on this inspirational athlete has been made to let the world know how she reached where she is right now. The film produced and directed by Lloyd Belcher in partnership with Trail Running Nepal features Lizzy Hawker (Ultra Runner & Author), Richard Bull (Trail Running Nepal), Subina Shrestha (Al Jazeera) and Niraj Karki (Nepal National Climbing Champion) along with the athlete herself.
