NEW YORK, AUG 23: In a grand event held at New York Ethical Center last night, Priyanka Thapaliya from North Carolina was crowned the 5th Miss Nepal US. Kausila Lama and Neha Jha became the first and second runners-up respectively.
The event hosted by CNN journalist Kiran Chetry witnessed the presence of some of the prominent actors from the Nepalese and Indian film fraternities such as Manisha Koirala, Gulshan Grover, Sunil Thapa, Deepti Naval as the guests of honor. A number of dancers and singers such as Nandita KC, Keki Adhikari, Sankar BC, Nalina Chitrakar and Gaurav Dagaonkar gave some amazing performances at the event that would be supporting the earthquake victims from the proceeds.
After winning the title, Thapaliya expressed her happiness saying, “I am feeling extremely happy and proud to be crowned the Miss Nepal US 2015. It was such a good experience. All of the contestants worked really hard and I think we all are winners. My future plan is to focus on rebuilding Nepal. Personally I would like to focus on rebuilding education system of Nepal as today’s children are the future of the nation.”
