Nepal national cricket team skipper Paras Khadka has returned to Nepal after his 12 days long visit from Australia. He had landed in Australia on April 23rd after being invited to meet Nepali cricketers and the fans there and a number of events were scheduled which were eventually turned into fundraising dinner events after the massive earthquake hit Nepal on the 25th.
The skipper was able to fundraise over $30,000 (NPR 2,405,100 approx) from his tours in Sydney, Darwin and Melbourne. For the first time in the history of Nepali cricket and sports, a record breaking amount of $2600 (NPR 208,442 approx) was bidded in an auction for any sports item. Ganesh Malla was the bidder who bought Khadka’s autographed cricket bat for that amount in an auction organized in Melbourne. Another bidder Bijay Sharma had owned an autographed jersey of Nepal for $1300 (NPR 104,221 approx) in an auction in Sydney.
Along with the fundraised amount, Khadka returned with various tents and other relief materials for the earthquake victims. The tour was initiated by Chitwan Samaj Victoria and managed by S-Events & Multimedia.
