Radio Kantipur’s National Music Awards 2074: Complete List of Nominees


Radio Kantipur recently announced the nominations for National Music Awards 2074 under sixteen different categories. The Nepali songs that were released between July 2016 and July 2017 have been included.

Cobweb (Ke Tero Ke Mero), 1974 AD (Hazar Sapana), Night (Tuin Ko Chha Hai Bhara), Pahelo Batti Muni (Lori) and Monkey Temple (Tyo Ke) are competing for the award of Best Band this year. For the Best New Artist award; the competition is between Menuka Poudel (Ek Jamana Pachhi), Benup Chhetri (Timi Sanga), Lakpa Sherpa Lama, Swoopna Suman (Kasari Bhanu) and Sajjan Raj Vaidya (Hawaijahaj).

Melina Rai (Timile Baato), Banika Pradhan (Yeti Dherai Maya), Milan Amatya (Tip Tip), Sangita Rana Pradhan (Aansu Piyera) and Anju Panta (Baharma Ramaune) have been nominated for the Best Aadhunik Singer (Female) award. Likewise; Ramkrishna Dhakal (Yesto Ko Ho Timi), Rajesh Payal Rai (Darshan Namaste), Satyaraj Acharya (Madhushala), Suraj Kumar Thapa (Bho Maya) and Ajar Jangam (Aaja Pheri) are nominated for the Best Aadhunik Singer (Male) award.

While there are different categories of awards for almost all the genres; there isn’t one for Hip Hop music. Laure – the only rap artist to be nominated – however, has been nominated in two categories; Best Pop Singer and People’s Choice Award. For the former, he is competing with Dharmendra Sewan (Pahadma Hurkeki), Sugam Pokharel (Darshan), Kamal Khatri (Jaula Relaima) and Deepak Bajracharya (Saani). For the latter, his competition is with Hemant Rana (Saili), Rajan Raj Siwakoti and Melina Rai (Kutuma Kutu), Mina Niraula and Kali Prasad Baskota (Thamel Bazar), and Swoopna Suman (The Coffee Song).

Nominated under the category of Best Pop Singer (Female) are Bartika Eam Rai (Khai), Indira Joshi (Girlfriend), Trishna Gurung (Gurans Fulyo), Shreya Sotang (Maya Ho Ki Hoina) and Nattu Shah (Ankha Bhari). The nominees of Best Song of the Year are Madhushala (Satya Raj Acharya), Jaaula Relaima (Kamal Khatri), Aaja Pheri (Ajar Jangam), Ma Hurima (Ram Krishna Dhakal) and Yeti Dherai Maya (Banika Pradhan).
