I am not gonna lie, for a very long time, I stayed away from TikTok — just because the platform was stereotyped to be full of cringe-worthy content. Only after I actually installed the application on my phone and really saw the potential, I realized that every platform has good and bad stuff, you just need to learn how to use it in the most productive and positive way. And now, I spend at least an hour everyday on it — I don’t create content for TikTok (’cause I am not creative like that) — but just scrolling through the ocean of entertainment and information.
This bookstore owner in Kathmandu is one of the many creators that I appreciate. Tara Nidhi Regmi runs a bookstore named Sunbarshi Book House (aka Kitab Kiro – which literally translates to Bookworm) with his family. And since last two years, he has been consistently encouraging people to read books through his TikTok handle as he informs them about various books and writers.
Not only does he recommend books that might be your best read, but also shares various tips on how to make reading a habit. I really liked one of his videos where he told people how they can make their kids more interested in reading. He said, they should take the kids to a bookstore once in a while and ask them to choose a book of their choice. Once they choose a book, they will definitely be more interested in that particular book. Make this a routine, and this will slowly get them more into reading. Such a helpful tip.
I know it’s a great marketing tool for the bookstore, but while advertising their business, they are also doing some great work. So I am a big time fan.
Anyway, to place your orders of the books, you can just give them a call at (+977) 9851177441; they have even got a website. And if you are old school like me, you can simply visit their brick and mortar store — here’s how you can get there.
I am not gonna be preachy about reading because I, myself, am not much of a reader. The last book I read was almost a year ago. It was ‘Verity’ by Coleen Hoover. But I really want to get deep into it, and I hope I do. And I hope you do, too.
Let’s do it, eh?
