Heavy Metal World Cup: Nepal’s Underside Against Japan’s Babymetal in the Finals

Nepal might not be part of the FIFA world cup, but the South Asian nation might just win another world cup — the Heavy Metal World Cup – courtesy of Underside.

Organized by Louder Sound, the publisher of the leading heavy metal music magazine Metal Hammer, the Heavy Metal World Cup 2018 kicked off last month. A total of 16 bands from 16 different countries were battling it out to become “the greatest heavy metal band on the planet” and now it has come down to just two of them.

Underside, “the band from Nepal”, who are competing in the tournament for the first time and were the “underdogs” according to the organizers, are now in the finals – competing with the defending champions Babymetal from Japan.

Earlier in the tournament; Underside defeated Wrust (Botswana), Sepultura (Brazil) and Rammstein (Germany) to make their way to the finals. The winners for every ‘match’ were decided by a public vote.

The final battle between Underside and Babymetal is now on. Go vote for your favorite band (ahem! Underside) HERE and help them win the biggest metal tournament.

Founded in 2010 in Kathmandu, Underside consists of Avishek K.C. (vocals), Bikash Bhujel and Bikrant Shrestha (guitars) and Nishant Hagjer (drums).
