DOHA, SEP 23: AP1 TV’s singing reality show Nepal Idol had its grand finale last night in Doha, Qatar. After giving tough competition to others for last couple of months, Buddha Lama emerged as the winner of the show.
The 20-year-old from Pokhara was pitting against Nishan Bhattarai and Pratap Das for the prestigious title, but Lama managed to walk away with the trophy, a prize money of Rs. 20 lakh, a Mahindra KUV 100 car and a record deal worth Rs. 15 lakh.
Nishan Bhattarai bagged the first runner up position, while Pratap Das was announced the second runner up; who won cash prizes of Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh, respectively.
According to AP1 TV, a total number of 93183335 votes were received during the last week when the voting for the finale was opened from Nepal and rest of the world. Buddha Lama was able to receive 44845263 votes; while Nishan and Pratap got 35083223 and 13251849 votes, respectively.
Along with the three finalists, the event witnessed some spectacular performances from other top 12 contestants; Sagar Ale, Suraj Thapa, Sujata Pande, Sandhya Joshi, Ulson Shrestha, Pramila Rai, Rahul Bishwas, Menuka Paudel and Kenjal Mehar Shrestha; as well.
