Inspiring TED Talks By Nepali Speakers That You Should Not Miss

TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is arguably the most popular talk program that enjoys popularity throughout the world. TED summits are conducted in dozens of cities around the world where inspiring people talk about their life experiences. The best thing — all of the videos from these summits are officially released online, making it easy for everyone to listen to these speakers and get motivated from their experiences.

A number of Nepali speakers too have been part of these events and we have handpicked the most inspiring ones for you. Here.

Manisha Koirala

Manisha Koirala is hands down the most successful Nepali actor in Bollywood who was much celebrated in the ’90s and worked with some of the biggest stars and filmmakers. There are dozens of good films that she was an important part of — Mann, Bombay, Dil Se, Kachche Dhaage, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Gupt, Agni Sakshi, 1942: A Love Story and Saudagar being some of them. She also won a number of prestigious awards for her performances including Smita Patil Memorial Award, four Filmfare awards, Star Screen Award and many more. But then, her life took an unexpected turn and a lot of bad things started happening. Her films didn’t work and she couldn’t actually make a comeback she’d hoped for. She got married in 2010; and in 2012, it was over. The same year, in 2012, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer; which she defeated and has been cancer-free since 2015. Things are now looking good for the 46-year-old as she has not only been living a healthy life but also is set to make her silver-screen comeback.

During her TED talk in Jaipur in February this year, Manisha shared her life experiences, ups and downs and also talked about how to be strong when life takes a sharp turn.
