This Music Video Feels Like Watching ‘Into The Wild’ In Just Four Minutes. Beautiful It Is!

Sean Penn’s 2007 flick ‘Into The Wild’ was a film that showed us the beauty of life in a very fascinating way. The adaptation of Jon Krakauer’s 1996 non-fiction book of the same name has a young boy who along with a handful of books about survival and edible wild plants set out on a journey, leaving his family, friends and a bright future in law school behind. He even changes his name from Christopher to Alexander Supertramp and keeps journals in which he sees himself as a heroic loner, renouncing civilization, returning to the embrace of nature.

No matter how the film ends, it does make us think about our current life and make us want to go and lose ourselves in the lap of nature.

Winter Aid’s latest music video for ‘The Night Is An Ocean’ instantly reminded us of the film once again. Made by the creative folks at Jazz Productions, the 4-minute video is so captivating that it leaves you craving for more when it ends. The video directed and edited by Aneel Neupane has actors Niva Rajbangshi and Pradhi Rana and is shot by Prajwal Bhattarai.

Winter Aid is the stage name that Irish indie artist Shane Culloty uses. He debuted in 2013 with an EP titled ‘The Wisp Sings’ that had three songs — ‘Within’ and ‘Wives’ along with the title song. The home recorded EP in Dublin was well received on the internet. The artist has now come up with the new single ‘The Night Is An Ocean’ and for its music video, he  roped in Aneel Neupane and his team in Nepal.

Culloty had come across Neupane’s work through a video titled ‘This Is My Diary #28 (Aneel Neupane)’ on YouTube in which he had covered ‘The Wisp Sings’ for the background music. “It was right after KritiStoleBob case had started when I got a message from Shane which read, ‘Hi Aneel, I represent the artist Winter Aid and I saw your video on This Is My Diary’, My heart stopped there. Here I was fighting for a copyright issue and I got scared more thinking this had boomeranged back at me,” Neupane remembers.

“I had given due credit to the song in the video but if the artist is unhappy, that would ruin the whole case. On the other hand, I was shocked that my favorite musician had found me from across the globe. I scrolled down and he had written, ‘I really liked your video..’, and it was that moment when I sighed a relief. It was all so surreal. And then he offered me to make a music video for him.”

The video is filmed in majestic locations en route to Gosaikunda. Amazing work. Not to mention, the song too is equally beautiful. Watch the music video here and let us know what do you think of it.

Neupane’s dream is to make a music video for Coldplay in future. Well, we won’t be surprised if he gets to work with them someday. Good luck, you creative fellow!
