‘Loot’ was a milestone in Nepali cinema. One of the most successful Nepali films ever, the film starring Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Karma, Reecha Sharma, Prateek Raj Neupane, Sushil Raj Pandey and Srijana Subba came when the Nepali film industry was going through its worst phase and the film gave a new ray of hope. The film produced by Madhav Wagle and Narendra Maharjan under the banner of Princess Movies and Black Horse Pictures Pvt Ltd; and directed by Nischal Basnet was released on 13 January 2012. The film proved to be a massive hit and lifted the careers of not only the actors and the director but also singer Indira Joshi and Sushma Karki who had an item dance titled ‘Udhreko Choli’.
