Watch: Arko Mukhaerjee & Friends Perform ‘Lahurey Ko Relimai’

In 2017, Arko Mukharejree’s band Fiddler’s Green performed ‘Resham Firiri‘ at the Orange Festival in Dambuk, Arunachal Pradesh. The four-member band’s version of the popular Nepali folk song was widely loved when it was released on YouTube in March 2018, and has garnered over 3.5 million views on the video-sharing platform.

Earlier this year in February, the Kolkata singer collaborated with Hari Maharjan and covered Jhalak Man Gandharbha’s ‘Timro Nai Maya’ which quickly became the most streamed track on his 8-year-old YouTube channel. Since then, the urban folk artist has released a number of Nepali covers, and the latest one to be added to the list is ‘Lahurey Ko Relimai’.

The cover of Master Mitrasen Thapa’s timeless song has Arko Mukhaerjee on vocals and dotara, Koustuv Dey on balafon guitar and Sajib Sarkar on madal, dupki and kartal.

In case you are not aware of the original song and are wondering where you have heard this tune, the song was sampled by Hype for VTEN’s ‘Laure Ko Fashion‘ track that was released in 2017.

Arko, along with Sounak Roy and Koustav Dey, is performing at Pokhara Festival, Amar Singh Chowk on January 22nd.
