Vijayi Bhava!

The day pageant fans from around the world have been waiting for is finally here. Tonight, the world gets its new Miss World.

Among 118 contestants from across the globe is Shrinkhala Khatiwada, representing Nepal. Ever since The Hidden Treasure, the organization that owns the Miss World franchise in Nepal, started sending the winner of Miss Nepal to compete in the Miss World competition; the closest the country has reached to the coveted crown is winning a spot in the top 10.

In 2013, Ishani Shrestha created history for Nepal as she became the first ever Nepali participant to place in the top 10. She also became the first from her country to win the prestigious Beauty with a Purpose award.

Cut to 2018, Khatiwada already has become one of the most successful Nepali delegates in the Miss World pageant, even before the finals. With her Multimedia award win, she has made it into the final 30. She has also bagged the award of Beauty with a Purpose.

That’s not all, she also earned a spot in the top 20 of the Head to Head Challenge. Although, she didn’t make the top 10. Moreover, she is among the top 5 participants for the Sanya tourism video award based on creative content.

This evening, as the reigning Miss World Manushi Chhillar crowns her successor, Nepal hopes it would be Khatiwada who would bring home the crown.

All the best, Shrinkhala. Vijayi Bhawa!
