Seriously Though, Never Thought ‘Bikini Killer’, Too, Has A Heart. Strange!

Charles Sobhraj underwent a surgery to repair the valves in his heart at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre in Kathmandu on Monday. After the surgery was over; one of the surgeons, Raamesh Koirala, twitted a picture of him along with Sobhraj and informed that the operation went ‘normal’. There was something else in his tweet that got our attention — the confirmation that “he has a heart”, which is quite surprising to know because as far as the world knows, he is a cruel and ‘heartless’ criminal.

The 73-year-old who has been serving a life sentence for a murder in Kathmandu in 1975 is said to have killed anywhere between 12 to 24 people in South-East Asia in the ’70s and ’80s. Most of his victims were young backpackers from western countries.

Born as Hatchand Bhonani Gurumukh Charles Sobhraj to an Indian father and a Vietnamese mother in Saigon, Vietnam; his parents separated when he was a child and his mother later got married to a French army officer.

Sobhraj’s first known victim was an American girl named Teresa Knowlton who was found drowned in a tidal pool in the Gulf of Thailand. Teresa and another victim of Sobhraj’s, Charmayne Carrou, were wearing swimsuits when their bodies were discovered; and for the same reason, he was labelled the ‘Bikini Killer’. He is also given the nickname of ‘The Serpant’ because of his numerous escapes from jail.

Sobhraj was arrested in Nepal in 2003 and was tried for the two murders he committed here. During his trial in Nepal, he allegedly got married to his lawyer’s daughter, Nihita Biswas, who had later appeared on the fifth season of popular Indian reality television show Bigg Boss in 2011.

Still can’t believe, HE HAS A HEART.
