Laure’s ‘Mero Solta’ Is The First Nepali Rap Song To Crack 3 Million Views On YouTube

Hitting millions of views on YouTube isn’t exactly much of a big deal for Nepali songs these days as many of them have been entering the ‘million views’ club within days of their release on the video-sharing website. ‘Surke Thaili Khai’, a soundtrack from 2015 film ‘Woda Number 6’, is the most viewed Nepali song on YouTube with whopping 19 million views.

But that’s the case with the film songs which have been gaining a lot of popularity lately, and not with pop and rock songs as many of them still struggle to make it to the ‘million views’ club. And if we talk about Hip Hop; well, all we can say is — “the struggle is real.” With the exception of  a couple of Hip Hop artistes, it’s hard for most of them to even get 100,000 views on their songs. Even with the rapid popularity that the genre has been gaining in Nepal, it still has a very long way to go.

The good news is, Laure’s ‘Mero Solta’ has become the first ever Nepali rap song to hit 3 million views on YouTube. It took the song over three years to reach this milestone. The music video for ‘Mero Solta’ that was shot and directed by Milan Thapa was released in October 2013. The song also features Gun Ace on vocals.

With over 2.6 million views, looks like Yama Buddha’s ‘Saathi’ music video would be the next rap song to hit the milestone. However; at 4 million views, the Raw Barz rap battle video of Laure Vs Uniq Poet has way more views than these two songs.

On that note, watch ‘Mero Solta’ music video again. This was the first song Laure ever wrote and it is undoubtedly one of his best ones.

Well deserved.
