Nepali Guy Who Guessed ‘Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali’ In 2015 Becomes Internet Sensation

Baahubali: The Beginning had ended on a huge cliffhanger, leaving people guessing ‘why did Kattappa kill Baahubali’ for almost two years. The film released on July 10, 2015 had everyone trying to solve the mystery and all of them had their own theories; and so did Sushant Dahal, an engineering student.

Answering the question, “Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali”, asked in Quora, a question-and-answer website, he actually had predicted the exact story of the film that we got to know only after the sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, released last month.

[Note: The next two paragraph contain spoilers]

In his answer; Dahal had written, “Amarendra Bahubali and Bhalladeva both fall in love with same girl; Devsena. But Devsena chooses Amarendra Bahubali as she falls for his kind nature; loosing both the kingdom and girl made Bhalladeva frustrated and hence, ‘Bhalladeva’ with the support of his father, plots conspiracy against Amarendra Bahubali, and manages to convince the queen Sivagami and she orders Katappa to kill ‘Amarendra Bahubali’. Even though Katappa likes him, he has to follow his queen’s order, and so, he kills Amarendra Bahubali. He regrets this all his life and waiting for a chance to correct his mistake.”

“After queen orders Katappa to kill ‘Amarendra Bahubali’, she realises the true intention of Bhalladeva; only to be late enough that ‘Amarendra Bahubali’ is killed and Bhalladeva trying to overtake the throne and kill the child too. This is the story I can guess.”

This is extremely strange that what he had predicted in July 18, 2015 came to be true; and it has left the internet shocked. The answer has gone so viral lately that it has been seen over 125,000 times and has over 1100 upvotes. However, Dahal had forgotten about what he had posted and only realized that his answer is currently one of the most talked about stuff on the internet when he saw some online portals write about it. He is now being hailed as a movie pundit on the internet.

When interviewed about the same by Hindustan Times, one of India’s leading dailies, “I didn’t know I got that famous. I haven’t done anything great. It’s just a lucky guess. I feel happy with whatever people call me”, he said.

“I watch a lot of movies and I had this gut feeling , that’s what is going to happen. I shared it on Quora, without knowing what kind of ripples it might create in future”, he further added. “Honestly, I didn’t even remember that I had written a post about it. I opened the website after someone sent me the screenshot that my answer is getting attention. I didn’t think it would be a big deal. I still don’t think it’s a big deal.”

Now 23, Dahal who is from Biratnagar, works at Kathmandu District Court.
Well, while the world had to wait for almost two years, and spend over INR 1,000 crore (the film recently became the first ever Indian film to collect Rs. 1000 crore worldwide); to get the answer, looks like Dahal knew it all along.

Directed by S.S. Rajamouli; Baahubali 2: The Conclusion starring  Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah in the lead roles; has already collected over NPR 23 crore in Nepal, becoming the highest-grossing film ever in the country.
