#FuntasticParisGirls’ New Dance Choreography Has An Inspiring Message: Watch

We’ve loved seeing them dancing to the tunes of ‘Funtastic’ and ‘Nira Jaile Risaune’ songs so far; and now the #FuntasticParisGirls have returned with yet another dance choreography. The girls — Sophiya Basnet, Pooja Adhikari, Samikshya Thapa and Dipna Bhatta — have raised an important issue this time around. The 9-minute video starts with some very common dialogues that most of the Nepali girls have to hear as soon as they’re in their 20s, and sometimes even less; such as, “Oho! 22 barsa pugi sakyo, bihe kaile garne?”, “College pani siddhi sakecha, belaima garnu parcha hai bihe”, and “Chhori yeti thuli bhaisakiche, bihe gardinu pardaina?” The video then moves ahead with Samikshya in the frame who is pissed off for some reason and it is later learned that her parents are forcing her to get married when she doesn’t even want to.

Unlike previous dance videos; this one isn’t exactly a dance cover as the song is original, well, to some extent. Written by Sophiya Basnet, the song is sung by herself along with Pooja Adhikari. The song has been mixed with Algerian singer Khaled’s 2012 hit C’Est La Vie, which translates to ‘That’s Life’. Choreographed by Sophiya; the video has been conceptualized, shot, edited and directed by Avash Acharya. And like Acharya’s previous woks, the cinematography on this one too has taken the video to next level. Cameos of Priyanka Karki, Barsha Raut and Keki Adhikari among others too can be seen in the video.

It’s not a perfect video and some things could have been better, such as the vocals of the song as it has not been sung by trained and professional singers but the dancers themselves; and also, we hope the girls would get better with their acting skills in their future projects. Over all, it’s a good one with an important message that it’s your life, and it’s you who should take control of it but no one else.

Watch it here and let us know what do you think of it.
