8 Nepali ‘Stoner’ Songs To Get You In The ‘Maha Shivaratri’ Vibe

Maha Shivaratri, which literally translates to ‘the Great Night of Shiva’, is one of the many Hindu festivals. The festival that is celebrated annually in the honor of the Hindu god Shiva takes place on February 24th this year. The day is dedicated on the discovery of Shiva and his values on ethics and virtues such as self-restraint, honesty, non-injury and forgiveness among others.

There’s another side to the festival as well, which is about weed. Aghoris are devotees of Shiva manifested as Bhairava. Aghoris are yogis and Shiva is the ultimate yogi. Apparently, marijuana helps them concenctrate on the strenuous yogic practices. And for the same reason, weed or ganja is often seen as Lord Shiva’s ‘prasad’.
