This is one of the saddest days for Nepali music industry as one of the most popular and successful hip-hop artists; Anil Adhikari, more popular by his stage name Yama Buddha; has passed away. The 29-year-old rapper who had been living with his wife in the UK lately was apparently found dead in his apartment this morning.

Yama Buddha had rose to popularity when he dropped his single titled ‘Saathi’ in 2011. ‘Aama’, ‘Footpath Mero Ghar’, ‘Yo Prasanga’ were some of his other hits. His new album ‘Khatra’ was scheduled to release in a couple of weeks.

We were hoping that it all turns out to be just a hoax, something similar to what happened in 2015 during the earthquake, or just a publicity stunt for the new album; but sadly, it’s not.

He shall always remain with us through his music. May the departed soul rest in peace.
