Pushpa Basnet Bags CNN SuperHero Award & Her Reaction Is The Best Thing We’ve Seen This Year!

This year’s CNN Heroes All-Star Tribute’ event took place at American Museum of Natural History in New York on Sunday evening where Jeison Aristizábal from Columbia was named the 2016 CNN Hero of the Year. The 33-year-old who has been providing educational and medical support for youth living with disabilities in Columbia also received a prize money of $100,000 to help him continue the good work.

Along with Aristizábal, all the top 10 CNN Heroes for 2016 received a $10,000 cash award in the event hosted by Anderson Cooper and Kelly Ripa.

A special award titled ‘CNN SuperHero’ too was announced in the event on the occasion of 10th anniversary of CNN Heroes and with the highest number of online votes, Nepal’s Pushpa Basnet was able to bag the title. Also the 2012 CNN Hero of the Year, she has been working to provide housing, education, food and medical services to children who would otherwise be forced to live with their parents inside the prisons in Nepal. The founder of Early Childhood Development Center and Butterfly Home was also awarded with $50,000 cash prize.

The best thing about the night was Basnet’s reaction when Kelly announced her name as the winner. Look at this.

The pride, excitement, happiness – her expressions are nothing but pure gold. Her reaction is so inspiring that it encourages you to do good so that someday you too will have the opportunity to experience what it likes to be genuinely happy.

While accepting the award, “Thank you for making my dream into reality”, she said. “The most important thing is that you need to believe in yourself, have passion.”

We are extremely proud of you, Pushpa. More power to you!
