It’s Not Official Yet, But Looks Like Mira Rai Has Won NatGeo Adventurer Of The Year 2017 Award

The online voting for People’s Choice National Geographic Adventurer of the Year 2017 award has now been closed. National Geographic has been selecting ten adventurers every year for twelve years now who have achieved something extraordinary in exploration, adventure sports, conservation, or humanitarianism. Like past years, for 45 days until December 16th this year, people could vote for their favorite adventurer to make them the People’s Choice Adventure of the Year. And looks like, in fact we’re pretty sure that the prestigious award is about to come to Nepal for the second consecutive year and this time it’s Mira Rai who is bringing it home.

The trail runner seems to have received the most number of votes.

On the last day of voting, Rai had over thirty-three thousand votes. On the other hand, her closest competitor Krzysztof Starnawski had less than eighteen thousand votes. It’s not official yet and the winner will be announced by National Geographic in January but we suggest you celebrate already.

In 2016, mountaineer Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita had won the award.
