Pokhara Is All Set To Host The First ‘Gurung Film Awards’ This Week

A number of award shows are organized every year to honor the people who are chosen the best among the bests for the contribution towards the Nepali cinema through their spectacular works. Along with Nepali films, quite a good number of regional language films are released every year but as these films have a limited audience, the hard work of the people involved often goes unnoticed. So for the very purpose of recognizing the efforts of the people associated with Gurung films, the first ‘Gurung Film Awards’ is going to be held.

The event organized by Jukson Group is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 27th at Pokhara Grande Hotel. The event will not only see the personalities from the Gurung Film Industry but some of the biggest names from the Nepalese Film Industry such as Rajesh Hamal, Karishma Manandhar, Rekha Thapa, Dayahang Rai, Namrata Shrestha, Bijay Lama, Bhushan Dahal, Ram Babu Gurung and Shailendra D. Karki among various others.

Seventy awards in different categories are to be presented to the winners selected by the jury panel. 46 movies are classified in two different periods for the nominations – the first period consists of the films released between April 13, 2004 to April 13, 2009 and the second period consists of the films released between April 14, 2009 to April 13, 2014. The nominated films include the films made in Gurung language and the films of Gurung culture made in Nepali language. The pioneer of Gurung films, Pritam Gurung, who has so far produced, directed and acted in 49 films will be honored with the lifetime achievement award in the event.

The organizers are leaving no stone unturned to make this event a grand one. An amount of over Rs. 3 million is expected to be spent for the event.

If you are in or around Pokhara, you just can’t afford to miss this event. It’s a chance not only to see all your favorite celebrities but some of them are also going to set the stage on fire with their amazing performances. The tickets are very limited and can be booked at the office of Jukson Group in Chipledhunga or you can just make a phone call to any of these numbers: 9856039451, 9856038615 or 9846384451.
