Bollywood Songs That Were Inspired By Nepali Songs


Kollywood or Nepalese Film Industry is often alleged of copying movie plots and sometimes music from international film industries and especially from Bollywood. There might not be many instances when Bollywood copied from Nepali films but there are many Hindi songs which were actually inspired by Nepali songs. Here we have tried to include almost every song that falls in this category.

#1. 1992 Bollywood film ‘Bandhu’ was a remake of blockbuster Nepali film ‘Saino’ that was released in 1989. And even all the songs in the remake were inspired from the original. The film was also shot in Nepal.

#4. The legendary Nepali band Himalayan Band’s ‘Musu Musu Haasi Deu’ inspired the song with the same title in 1999 Bollywood film ‘Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’ and was sung by Shaan. The term ‘Musu Musu’ which means the expression of smiling, doesn’t even have any meaning in Hindi.

#5. ‘Aage Aage Topaiko Gola’ by Danny Denzongpa and Asha Bhosle was adapted by R.D. Burman as ‘Sang Mere Nikle The Sajan’ in 1980 film ‘Phir Wahi Raat’. The song was sung by Legendary singers Kishor Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.

#6. Pop sensation Sugam Pokharel’s ‘Mero Mann’ inspired ‘Tu Mujhse’ in 2007 film Showbiz. The song was sung by K.K.

#7. 2010 film Paathshaala’s hit number ‘Mujhe Teri’ sung by Tulsi Kumar and Hanif Sheikh was inspired by ‘Timro Tyo’ by Akansha Lama and Mohit Munal. Along with the music and composition, even the lyrics of this song are same as the original.

We could not feature 2009 film Love Aaj Kal’s ‘Chor Bazari’ performed by Neeraj Shridhar and Sunidhi Chauhan which is inspired by legendary Nepali singer Kumar Kancha’s song as we could not find the original song online.
