World Leisure Games: Nepal’s ‘Cartoonz Crew’ Wins Silver in Street Dance Competition


B-Boying crew ‘The Cartoonz Crew’ were able to win Nepal silver in Street Dance Competition at World Leisure Games held in Qingdao, China. The crew represented by Sabin Karki, Saroj Adhikari, Aashma Biswakarma and Sikhar Limbu competed with 30 dance crews from around the world on September 12th. They were awarded with medals, certificates and a cash prize of RMB 7,000 (NPR 1,15,000 approx). The crew from South Korea won the title and China placed at third position.

Talking with NeoStuffs from Qingdao, crew’s frontman Sabin Karki told that they had a vey tough competition and were able to mark better presence than others because of their very new and unique presentation. He also thanked all the supporters and well wishers for always being there for them. Popular Nepalese actress and professional dancer Deeya Maskey too was a part of the jury panel that consisted of 13 judges from different nations.

The second edition of the World Leisure Games, sponsored by the World Leisure Organization, is being held from September 12th to 21st. The first edition of the tournament that is held every five years had taken place in Chuncheon, S. Korea in 2010.
