Huma Qureshi’s Femina Cover – Not So Original

You must have seen the above cover a lots of times these days as it’s one of the most shared pictures on the internet in recent times because of the powerful message it gives breaking the size-zero stereotype. The cover of Femina for the July edition featuring Huma Qureshi has been appereciated by everyone and some also referred to it as the best cover of Femina in five decades for its originality and the unique message it gives, making an average looking woman feel good about her body. The quote on the mannequin she is holding itself says it all about how good the cover is, it reads “I Don’t Owe You Perfection! My Body My Rules.”

Now what would be your reaction if we tell you that the cover which has been highly appereciated for its originality is actually inspired by some other picture? Now meet American plus model Denise Bidot and take a look at her picture.

Rings a bell? Doesn’t the idea look very similar to the Femina cover? Denise’ picture is published on various websites, from her personal website www.denisebidot.com to Cosmopolitan magazine’s website www.cosmopolitan.com since February 2014. Even though nothing is written on the mannequin Denise is holding, both the pictures convey the same message about being comfortable and proud of your body.
