Half-naked at -60°C


Sanjay Pandit, a mountaineer and an ultra marathon runner, set a new world record on 20th July. He stayed half naked at Mt. Elbrus,  the highest peak of Europe, for 6 minutes and 3 seconds at the temprature of minus 60 degree celsius.

The long-distance runner is currently on his mission to scale the tallest peaks of all seven continents. He has already climbed Asia’s Mount Everest and Manaslu; Africa´s highest peak Kilimanjaro and Europe’s Mt. Elbrus.

He had also set a new record by climbing Kilimanjaro in just 6 hours and 13 minutes, which is the fastest by a South Asian. Not only that, he also holds the record for running the longest distance in Nepal, which is 2,495 kilometers.

Ministry of Youth and Sports recently announced to honor him with the National Youth Award. He will be awarded on International Youth Day on August 12th. Along with a certificate, he will recieve a cash reward of Rs. 1,00,000.
